Alan Cameron, one of the top solo acts on the British
country music scene has been performing for over 30 years. In
that time he has released numerous albums and this his most
recent project differs from the rest in as much as we find a
band of Alan's fellow musicians performing his songs. All songs
are written by Alan except for "Will
You Marry Me" which he co-wrote with West Virginia
drummer Tony Peck. Ed Pearson penned the emotive "Everything
Is Not Alright" and "The
Joke's On Me" is a song from Ivor James, which are
both covered superbly by Alan's distinctive vocals.
Guests and Alan are alternated throughout the track
listing and Ed Pearson starts the ball rolling with "Why
Does It Feel So Right", with Alan following on with
"When You Fall". Les
Close can be found with "How Can I
Tell You", Jeff Cliffson takes on "In
My Dreams", while Alan's song about the beautiful
island of "Ibiza" is
given a good interpretation by Darren Busby. Ivor James offers a
fine rendition of the lullaby "Close
Your Eyes" that I believe Alan wrote for his wife
when she was going through a patch of poor health. The last two
tracks on the album sees the madcap Merseyside band West
Virginia performing a spectacular version of "Getting
Over You" and Alan's Mediterranean friends Lazy
Daisy bring it all to a close with "A
Spanish Lullaby".
16 tracks altogether with Ed Pearson and Ivor James taking
two tracks a piece and Alan performing seven numbers. Some of
the finest vocalist on the British country music scene can be
found on this album and as Alan says they are all his close
friends. Alan Cameron And Friends is
well worth seeking out and you won't be disappointed for the
effort. For further information contact Alan by e-mail. alancameron@blueyonder.co.uk |
